Luka Marčetić starts shooting his next dark comedy feature GIRL OF THE NIGHT
Over the weekend the cameras started rolling on yet another feature, this time by the seasoned film-maker Luka Marčetić. The dark comedy Girl of the Night will be his third feature film, following the enormous success of his debut At Hostar’s (2016) and its sequel At Hostar’s 2 ‰ (2022). Marčetić is also very well known for his series work, first getting recognition with one of the first Slovenian web series Day of Love (2009-2010) and three seasons of the domestic VOD hit Paired Up (2015-2019).
Girl of the Night is Marčetić’s first feature that he also wrote the screenplay for, and tells a story about Rok, a cleptomaniac gas station clerk, who one night meets Iza who believes herself to be a superhero. In order to get her attention, Rok decided to steal her priceless bicycle, which of course leads to all sorts of complications.
The cast includes Urban Kuntarič, who appeared in Marčetić’s recent short Detective Dorian (2021), and Lara Wolf in her first major on-screen performance in the titular role. The rest of the cast includes Rok Roudi, Nejc Jezernik, Maja Sever, Doroteja Nadrah, Marko Mandić and Nina Valič. Marčetić continues working with his At Hostar’s 2 collaborators, including cinematographer Lev Predan Kowarski, production designer Katarina Riznar and costume designer Katarina Šavs, with Lija Ivančič in charge of make up design. Simon Penšek and Alenja Pivko Kneževič will provide the film score.
The project was first developed through the Scenarnica workshop back in 2017, organized by the Directors Guild of Slovenia (DSR). Temporama received development funding from the Slovenian Film Centre in 2021, followed by production funding support in late 2022. The film is expected to premiere in 2025.
